 Adar Gandelsman is an Israeli model from Israel. She was Miss Israel's 2017 runner-up and received the title Miss Universe Israel. Adar participated in the Miss Universe 2017 pageant, but she did not place. The pageant was a success, and Gandelsman took a picture with Sarah Idan, Miss Universe Iraq in that year. In December 2017 Idan as well as her family emigrated to Iraq because of the outrage of Iraqi citizens over her pose for a picture with Miss Israel who had also served in the Israel Defense Forces at the time. At the time, Gandelsman was born in Ashkelon, Israel, and is the daughter of Ashkenazi Jewish parents who immigrated to Israel from Brazil in 1992.
